The journey began back in 2020, when I started selling birthday cakes under the name Bekari 16.17. I had no grand plan at the time, just a deep love for baking and the joy it brings to people. Birthdays have always held a special place in my heart. I was born just one day after my mum’s birthday, so growing up, we celebrated together every year. I think that’s where the magic of 'making people feel special' really stuck with me.

But truthfully, my baking journey started long before 2020. Since 2014, I’ve been baking for my own family’s special occasions, from birthdays to anniversaries and everything in between. What began as a way to make our celebrations extra personal slowly turned into a deep-rooted passion for creating bakes that make memories.

What started with birthday cakes quickly grew into something much bigger. As I experimented and explored new recipes, from gooey NYC-style cookies to rich chocolate brownies, I realised I didn’t just want to bake for occasions.
I wanted to create bakes that became the occasion.

Over time, my little business began building a community. My bakes started showing up in people’s happiest moments: birthdays, baby showers, weddings, anniversaries, quiet nights in, and random Sundays. And it’s been the biggest honour to be part of them all.

As my baking business grew, so did my family. Becoming a mum deepened my appreciation for life’s simple joys. A warm cookie on a tired day, a beautiful cake that makes someone feel seen or that first bite of something you’ve really been craving. I’ve built Bake 16.17 with those moments in mind.

Now rebranded as Bake 16.17, this business reflects everything I stand for:

Whether you’re ordering a celebration cake or grabbing cookies at a market stall, every bake is made fresh, always. I don’t do shortcuts. Cakes and cookies are baked on the day of your order, and all the bakes I bring to markets are baked the day before. I want you to experience every bite the way it’s meant to be: indulgent and unforgettable.
